FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The School District #60’s Board discussed developments on the new Northeast Elementary School during its first meeting of the new school year on Monday.During the meeting, SD60 Assistant Superintendent Doug Boyd explained that construction on the new school’s foundation would start immediately, as the district already hired Yellowridge Construction LTD to manage said construction.“The Northeast school as you are well aware has received approval and will start with soil stipping,” said Boyd. “Our construction management term for this project is Yellowridge, so basically we’ve hired local contractors to do the screening.” The district will now tender a contract for work on the school’s foundation with an award coming in the next few days. Once the district awards the contract, construction will commence as soon as possible.“At this point, it’s only the weather that could give us hiccups or delays.”Boyd added that soil at the new school has already been stripped and moved to Margaret Ma Murray Elementary, where it will be used as a foundation for sod.The new school, which will be built on 86th street and 112th Avenue, is receiving $30.8 million from the province to go towards the project. Northeast Elementary is expected to be completed by the fall of 2021 and will host students from Kindergarten to Grade Six.
YEARTEAMWINSLOSSESWEIGHTED SRSAVG OPPONENT SRS 22017Netherlands434.100.87 Includes only teams who made the WBC final or semifinals. Teams are ranked according to the Simple Rating System (SRS) for that year’s tournament, with extra weight applied to games in later rounds; SRS is scaled such that an average team is rated 0.0. Average opponent SRS is determined by all WBC games since 2006.Source: Wikipedia Before the United States began its World Baseball Classic run a couple weeks ago, I wrote about how downright mediocre the team’s track record had been at the event. Things have changed!Going into 2017, the U.S. was 10-10 in three WBC appearances, with a below-average run differential after accounting for its strength of schedule. Since the best American players were once again sitting the event out, there wasn’t much reason to think U.S. fortunes were due for an improvement this time around. Except the U.S. is now in the WBC final, beating Japan — only the most successful team in WBC history — to get there. Suffice to say, it’s been a wild, impressive ride for the Americans. But their greatest test might come in Wednesday night’s championship game against Puerto Rico. The blond-dyed baseball machine from the Caribbean is in the midst of the most dominant WBC performance of any team since the event began in 2006.Using the same Simple Rating System (SRS) framework I employed in my earlier story to adjust for the overall quality of each country’s WBC program,1With a few tweaks: I amended the home-field advantage to better reflect past WBC results (more on that later). I also added a stabilizing factor that regresses each team’s rating to a mean of -4.5 runs per game (with a weight of about 12 games), to avoid overrating teams with few total games played. we can measure a team’s performance in each individual tournament relative to how it played against their opponents. According to SRS, Puerto Rico is the third-best team in WBC history, trailing only Japan and the Dominican Republic. But if America does have one edge on Wednesday, it’s that the game is being played on U.S. soil, at Dodger Stadium. In the WBC, host teams outscore opponents by about one more run per game than they do when playing elsewhere, which translates to about 5 to 10 extra percentage points of win probability (or nearly twice what home-field is worth in Major League Baseball). That probably isn’t enough to close the gap between the U.S. and Puerto Rico completely, but in concert with Marcus Stroman taking the hill for the Stars and Stripes, Team USA might have a fighting chance to win this thing after all.CORRECTION (March 22, 3:00 p.m.): A table in an earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the records of the U.S. and Puerto Rico teams. Puerto Rico is 7-0 in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, not 7-1. The U.S. is 5-2, not 5-3. Share on Facebook

The Buckeyes (7-9) will host Lipscomb (9-6) in a three-game series beginning their nine-game homestand on Friday. The Bisons come into the series on a hot streak. They have won five straight games, outscoring opponents 41-14 over that span. Ohio State, on the other hand, has not recorded a win in more than a week of play. The Buckeyes have been outscored 42-25 over their past five games. Lipscomb has a team batting average of .297, which ranks the Bisons inside the top 50 in the nation. The offense has been fueled by a trio of players. Redshirt sophomore designated hitter and catcher Chris Bashlor has a .434 batting average and 16 RBIs. Sophomore center fielder Maddux Houghton and senior third baseman Zeke Dodson are both batting above .360. Lipscomb’s offense is averaging 7.07 runs a game also adding 25 stolen bases on 29 attempts. Redshirt senior left fielder Tevin Symonette leads the team with 7 steals. Symonette is also batting .269 on the year. The Lipscomb pitching staff is made up of two solid starters, who are a combined 4-0.Senior starting pitcher Chris Kachmar has a 2.74 ERA and three wins in his four starts. Freshman starting pitcher Scott Elgin boasts a 3.65 ERA in four appearances for the Bisons. The Bisons hold a 4.67 ERA, while walking an average of six batters a game. Extra base runners will provide Ohio State’s offense an opportunity to put up larger numbers and improve upon its average of 5.31 runs a game. Senior left fielder Brady Cherry has provided a bright spot for the inconsistent Buckeyes. Cherry is hitting .344 to go along with a team-high 13 RBIs and four home runs. The pitching staff will also look to regain its rhythm, after allowing five or more runs in each of their past six contests. Ohio State will begin its series against Lipscomb at 5:05 p.m. Friday at Bill Davis Stadium. This will be followed up with a 3:05 p.m. Saturday game and a 1:05 p.m. Sunday finale.
Antoine Griezmann has said that his decision to stay with Atletico Madrid has been justified after their SuperCup triumph over Real Madrid. The Frenchman insists the win over rivals Real Madrid on Wednesday evening has justified his decision to turn down a move to Barcelona. Griezmann was reportedly a target of the Catalan club but opted to remain with the Los Colcheneros. The forward was instrumental in France’s World Cup glory scoring three times whilst also winning the Bronze Ball award (third best player of the tournament) as Les Bleus picked up their second World Cup trophy in their history.Griezmann struggles to have any form of positive impact on the game on Wednesday night, as he was taken off after 57 minutes due to his fitness levels.La Liga Betting: Match-day 4 Stuart Heath – September 14, 2019 Despite it being very early into La Liga season, both Barcelona and Real Madrid have had unprecedented starts to their campaigns. First points dropped by Real Madrid without Ronaldo, they were close to losing at San Mames against Athletic but Isco scored the equalizer for a point. This Saturday was the first day in which Real Madrid suffered the first moment in which they know they are less better without Cristiano Ronaldo, who would’ve scored in San Mames against Athletic without question today. After so much hype directed at the key players like Gareth Bale or Karim Benzema, they weren’t able to deliver a good performance in a very complicated stadium where they almost lost the match if it wasn’t for Isco’s equalizer during the second half. Although the Welsh winger did provide the assist for the Spaniard during the second half, he wasn’t able to produce more moments of brilliance as he was doing at the start of the season and he crashed hard against a very compact Athletic defense. But the biggest player of this match as it usually is in these types of scenarios was the crowd in San Mames, they proved that they are amongst the toughest in all of European football and they became a real problem for the Real Madrid players in every single ball they touched. There is no doubt that the spirit of the old Cathedral lives on in the new one, they are the ones who made the biggest difference against Real Madrid.Unai Simón, un futuro muy presente. #MovistarPartidazo pic.twitter.com/kxHqiiVlJk— La Casa del Fútbol en Movistar+ (@casadelfutbol) September 15, 2018But on the local side, the Basque team had an ace under their sleeve and we finally realized why they let Kepa go that easily. Young goalkeeper Unai Simon was Athletic’s unsung hero during the match by piling up the saves against all of Real Madrid’s forwards who got frustrated against this kid’s brilliant interventions, the match could’ve easily ended with Los Blancos’ victory by more than four goals if it hadn’t been for Unai. Past the half hour of the game, Susaeta combined with De Marcos and he sent a pass to the heart of the box where both Muniain and Williams were waiting to bury the ball in. Iñaki failed his strike at first but Iker was able to score the goal and make San Mames explode with cheers because they were already ahead in the scoreline. Real Madrid kept trying to penetrate Athletic’s defense during the rest of the match but they had a really hard time getting past Unai Simon, they were finally able to get an equalizer during the second half after Gareth Bale found Isco’s header that the young Athletic Club goalkeeper wasn’t able to reach in time. But Simon’s performance wasn’t stained by this goal, he was truly the man of the match against Real Madrid.Zidane hails ‘quality’ James Rodriguez after Real Madrid’s win Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Zinedine Zidane reserved special praise for James Rodriguez after his starring role in Real Madrid’s 3-2 win over Levante.⚖ Points shared at San Mamés. #RMLiga pic.twitter.com/lraMI4aSaQ— Real Madrid C.F. ???? (@realmadriden) September 15, 2018It’s hard to understand why Julen Lopetegui still hasn’t put his trust on some of the new arrivals like Mariano, the new Real Madrid number ‘7’ is the type of player who can solve complicated situations like the one they had today at San Mames. This draw marks the first points that Los Blancos drop during the season and watching the development of the full match, it’s clear by now that the squad will struggle without a player like Cristiano Ronaldo who was there exactly for days like this Saturday. The next month will be really difficult for Real Madrid as they now have to start the Champions League next week against AS Roma, and then one week later they will have another dangerous trip to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium where they will face Sevilla FC in one of the most exciting fixtures of September. Julen Lopetegui needs to start trusting his new field players a little bit more, otherwise, he will keep dropping points like he did today and that can be very harmful to a club like Real Madrid this early in the season. What did you think about the match, who was your favorite player from either squad at San Mames? Please share your opinion in the comment section down below.

His style impresses me. This is not innate, but trained. You have a lot of players with natural talent, but you have to develop your own talent,” said Kovac.“That’s what Ronaldo did in a fantastic way. But individual class ultimately decides the games.”Kovac will take charge of his first Champions League game for Bayern later this evening against Benfica.
