first_imgIndia Tourism Sydney and Australia India Travel & Tourism Council (AITTC), in partnership with Wendy Wu Tours, chose the diversity of Indian cuisine, and its ranking in the world’s top five popular cuisines, to showcase India, via its culinary delights, to a selected industry audience last week.Sydney’s elegant waterfront restaurant Manjits played host to the evening, that saw 75 guests – travel agents, airlines, hotelliers and industry personalities dominating the India-Australia tourism spectrum – dine on delicious offerings as varied as the many geographically and culturally diverse regions of India.According to AITTC chairman Sandip Hor, the objective behind the initiative was simple – to pass on enhanced knowledge about Indian cuisine and to motivate Australians, who love Indian food, to visit India and experience a heady cultural encounter with the country via its food.Saransh Goila, a celebrity chef in India, appeared via video, while Indian Consul General Sydney, B. Vanlalvawna, Director India Tourism Sydney, Kanchan Kurkeja, and Laura Cuthbert from Wendy Wu Tours addressed assembled guests. Celebrity chef Sandeep Chatterjee spoke of traditional Indian cuisine, while Manjit’s chef de cuisine Varun Gujral shared his knowlegde on modern trends in Indian eats.last_img
